Hello friends!
Happy September :) It still feels like summer here in San Francisco, with beautiful blue skies, 80 degree weather, and lots of tomatoes at the markets.
That being said, we are getting into the swing of the fall season. I’m still developing my Bay Area fall “to do” bucket list, and would love to know if anyone has traditions and favorite things to do in this area. Growing up in the midwest, my fall bucket list used to include apple picking, eating elephant ears and cider donuts, going to corn mazes and hay rides, and finding some kind of fall fest to attend. I miss those things, and even though I have a fall “food list” this year to both eat and make, I’d love to find some other fall festivities. I do have a New York trip planned for early November, so I’m hoping that will give me some fall spirit I feel like I’m craving here in California.
Fall Food Bucket List 2024:
Philz Vanilla Date Delight - I tried it this past week and it was delicious (and better than the other vanilla spiced special - that one had too much cardamom!). I had it hot and had them add a bit of more cream in addition to the oatmilk.
Develop a killer recipe for caramel apple muffins
Make my Kabocha squash congee
Eat pumpkin pie (of course!!)
Try This Bowl in NYC (I’ve been hearing all the rage about this new salad shop!)
Visit Little sweet shop in NYC (a new candy store that has cute curated and yummy gummies from all over the world)
Try the pumpkin seed and rye cookie flavor at Jeni’s ice cream
Try Lou’s Cafe cranberry turkey sandwich in San Francisco
Eat and share mooncakes with my friends and family <3
Let me know if you try any of these, or have something else that I should add to my list!
Now onto our recipe this week: Pumpkin Carrot Muffins
